This week on My Greenville Home Radio, Dan is talking with Ashley Brickner, a pencil artist and the Gallery Owner of Open Art Studios in Greenville. Ashley is sharing about her career as an artist and what’s new in the Greenville arts community.
Ashley discovered a passion for drawing in the 4th grade and hasn’t stopped since. For years, she drew commissions for friends, family and coworkers before taking her career as an artist fulltime. Though she has no formal training, Ashley has grown a part-time hobby into a thriving fulltime business, sharing her gift with her customers through commissions of pets, loved ones, homes, and more.
In 2018, Ashley had the opportunity to open an art gallery in the heart of downtown Greenville. Open Art Studios (OAS) displays and sells works from more than 30 local artists, hosts events and art classes, and more. Located on Main Street between Washington and McBee, seeks to help Greenville engage with and support the Upstate art community.
One of Ashley’s favorite events is the monthly First Friday Art Crawl hosted by the Metropolitan Arts Council. Each month, this free event allows Greenville residents to tour the city’s visual art scene in multiple venues and galleries from 6pm – 9pm. Open Art Studios personally provides live music and food for the event each month.
