Simpsonville City Highlight with Justin Campbell

This week on My Greenville Home Radio, Dan is talking with Justin Campbell, Community Relations Specialist for the City of Simpsonville. For the last 4 years, Justin has represented the City of Simpsonville and connected the community with it’s leaders. Justin has a background in Journalism and feels his experience interviewing government employees has given him insight and understanding in his current role. Justin is a self-described “Upstate Vagabond,” having lived in Mauldin, Anderson, Central, Greenville, and Simpsonville over the course of his life.

The municipality of Simpsonville is made up of 6 council members and a mayor; a fire, police, parks and recreation, and public works department; and an amazing city administrator to name a few. Justin noted his coworkers’ dedication to and passion for making Simpsonville an amazing place for families to live makes his job a pleasure.

What’s going on in Simpsonville?

Most recently, The Simpsonville Arts Center was unveiled in February. A project 20 years in the making, the Center resides in a 1939 elementary school building and will feature a full season of shows over the next year. You can purchase tickets for the Center’s first show Children of Eden featuring the Mill Town Players, beginning July 22nd! Priced at just $12 a ticket, Justin is especially excited for Simpsonville to provide accessible, quality entertainment for the families in the community.

Soon, the Center plans to rent its old classrooms to artists and complete renovations on the building’s old gymnasium. Plus, the Center’s first art show will be hosted later this month.

What changes can Simpsonville residents expect in the next year?

The City of Simpsonville has recently wrapped up some big projects. In addition to the Simpsonville Arts Center, Burdette Central recently opened and Warehouse at Vaughn’s has quickly become a hot spot for weekend hangouts.

This Fall, Simpsonville will turn from new development to improving the city’s infrastructure including pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, street lighting, and other beautification projects. The city will also work to address some traffic flow concerns by installing a number of one-way streets. Finally, Simpsonville’s extension of the Swamp Rabbit Trail will grow to include Heritage Park.
