This week on My Greenville Home Radio, Dan is talking with Bill Martin Executive Director and Technical Director for United FC, a youth soccer club here in Greenville. Bill has been with United FC for over 20 years and loves having the opportunity to teach kids soccer every day. United FC strives to be the best Soccer Club in the Upstate and create well-rounded, talented athletes. Dan himself has participated in the United FC program as a coach and a dad with two sons enrolled.
United FC works with children ages 4-14 through a few different programs. The Recreational Program helps children as young as 4 learn soccer. The program is designed to be participatory and fun, perfect for beginners. Children playing rec soccer practice multiple times a week and have games each Saturday. The Recreation Program progresses to Junior Academy for children ages 8-12. According to Bill, Junior Academy provides an “age appropriate step up for competitive children looking for vigorous programs and professional coaching.” Finally, the Select Program is designed for athletes looking to pursue soccer at the high school, college, and professional levels.
Having been at the club for over 20 years, Bill has been able to see children enter the program at 3-4 years old, tripping over the ball, and watch them all the way up until graduation and professional careers.
